Which cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and how to accept, reject or change your choices.
About these technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and software development kits. We use them for security, shop functions, preferences and, with permission, measurement and marketing.
Strictly necessary storage
These support basket contents, checkout, account login, security, load balancing and your preferences. Essential storage is used automatically because the shop will not function properly without it.
| Purpose | Examples | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
| Shop session | WooCommerce basket and session cookies | Session or a short operational period |
| Account access | WordPress login and security cookies | Session or up to two weeks if “remember me” is selected |
| Your preferences | Wishlist, comparison and recently viewed storage | Until cleared or no longer needed |
Analytics and marketing
We use Google Consent Mode with advertising storage, advertising user data, personalised advertising and analytics storage denied by default. The Google Ads tag remains detectable, but advertising cookies and personalised measurement are not enabled through this website.
We do not display an optional-cookie banner. You can control or delete site data and third-party cookies through your browser.
Consent records and withdrawal
No optional-cookie choice is requested or recorded by this website. Essential shop and preference storage remains operational. You can delete cookies and local storage through your browser, although some shop preferences will reset.
Third-party content
Maps, payment frames, videos, carrier tracking and similar services may set their own cookies. We will ask for consent before loading optional third-party content where required. Their privacy notices explain how they use data.
Browser and device controls
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and limit third-party storage. Your device may also offer advertising and tracking controls. Blocking essential cookies may prevent basket, account and checkout functions from working.
Policy updates and contact
We will keep the cookie register under review as services change. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent using the contact details below. See our Privacy Policy for broader data rights.
Current essential cookie register
| Name or technology | Purpose | Type and duration |
|---|---|---|
woocommerce_cart_hash | Identifies basket contents | Session cookie |
woocommerce_items_in_cart | Records whether the basket contains items | Session cookie |
wp_woocommerce_session_* | Maintains the customer session | Operational cookie |
woocommerce_recently_viewed | Powers recently viewed products | Operational cookie |
wordpress_sec_*, wordpress_logged_in_* | Secures and maintains account login | Session or up to two weeks |
Names and durations can vary by browser, account status and WooCommerce version.
Local storage we use
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
pbuk_consent | Stores your cookie choice and its date |
pbuk_wishlist | Retains your saved-product shortlist |
pbuk_compare | Retains up to three comparison selections |
pbuk_recent | Powers recently viewed products |
pbuk_campaign_seen | Prevents a campaign message repeating |
Local storage is browser-side storage, not a server-side profile of your activity.
Service worker and offline pages
The installable-site service worker caches selected public pages and static assets to improve speed and provide limited offline access. Basket, checkout, account and authenticated requests are excluded from this cache.
You can remove the service worker and cached pages through your browser’s site-data settings.
Product images and remote hosts
Product images are served from the Power Backup UK domain and its WordPress media library. Product pages do not need to request catalogue images from another retailer or manufacturer image host.
Where an optional embed is non-essential, it will be loaded only after the appropriate consent.
Optional services and consent
Google Consent Mode sets ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization and analytics_storage to denied. No optional-cookie banner or consent interface is displayed, and these settings are not changed to granted by this website.
Current shop, basket and checkout features do not use non-essential advertising cookies.
Consent expiry and review
No optional-cookie decision is requested or stored. You can review and remove site data through your browser at any time without creating an account.
Blocking non-essential technologies does not reduce product availability, delivery or return rights.
Managing individual sites and devices
Blocking cookies in one browser or device does not change settings on another. Private-browsing modes may restrict storage further. Consult your browser’s help pages for precise controls.
Essential security and session technologies can be blocked through browser controls if you accept the resulting loss of shop functionality.
Evidence and audit
We review optional scripts and the consent register as services are added or removed. Consent records may include your choice, timestamp and relevant policy version. We do not use dark patterns, pre-ticked boxes or misleading accept-only flows.
